u16: Tupton Tigers 50-29 East Retford

Sunday 13th November 2016

A bright sunny morning in total contrast to last week.

East Retford turned up a few players short so 3 players were offered from Tupton Tigers.

2 minutes in and a try for Tupton Tigers. Great scrum and the ball passed down the backs to Jacob to score. 5-0
Pressure from East Retford after the kick off but held up well and kicked into touch by Jacob. Line out won by Tigers, but lost easily, a strong run from Retfords number 8 resulting in a try. 5-5

Scrums were being won often by Tupton Tigers but dominance already showing in all areas. A strong push again with Lewis getting the ball over the line, converted by Sam. 12-5

More great work from Tupton Tigers, from one side of the pitch to the other covering 40 yards, Saul, now in centre with a great carry passed to jacob who scores. Sam converts. 19-5

Yet again, great play from the whole team (but with little resistance from East Retford). Line out from 10 yards, passed down the back line to Jacob, another try. 24-5

Straight from the kick off, pressure from Tupton Tigers. Strong tackling from the forwards, ball won, passed down the backs again to Jamie who scores. Sam conversion. 31-5

Half Time.

4 Tupton Tigers substitutions made.

Tupton Tigers lineout, more good work through the backs to Brendan who powered and skipped his way to a try. 36-5
This was one way traffic. Full on pressure with East Retford seemingly unable to resist. More fancy footwork from Brendan and over the line. Converted by Sam. 43-5

More good work, the ball being passed down the line to Adam and from 30 yards out ran the ball and try - ruled out - foot out of play - dubious!!

2 minutes later another try from Jacob. Sam conversion 50-7

Time out called. With a cricket score being amassed a decision was made to offer some Tupton Tigers players to East Retford. We've been on the receiving end of some heavy defeats in the past and it's disheartening to see lads' heads drop, in a friendly match, where both sides are trying to get a bit of experience.

Brendan, Sam, Jacob and Ted were offered, which lifted the East Retfords lads' heads and to be fair, played a little better.

The score then went;

50–12 - great play making from Jacob.

50–17

50–24 - Jacob try converted by Sam

50–29.

Full time called.

Man of the match, as voted for by the players was Sam. Instrumental in the centre, covered a lot of ground, great handling and kicking the conversions.
